Firefly Podcast

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

The new Firefly fan-fiction-series podcast is currently under way! The first draft of the first story is in the process of revision, and a preview will be up sometime next week. These stories will undergo four drafts, the fourth being the final copy. They will also be tracked using GIT, usually a source code management suite, but it works just fine for this too. A bit of forewarning, im new to podcasting, not new to writing. If it sounds like crap, don’t walk away saying its crap. Leave a comment saying whats wrong THEN you can walk away. All comments to improve the podcast will be greatly appreciated. And might I also note, that the entire series of drafts will be released TWO WEEKS after each episode is launched. The release date is HOPEFULLY in early May. As the old (deleted) saying goes, Once you find Serenity, you can never leave. (atleast im sure thats how it went). Anyway, the first episode is likely to be crap unless I find time to fit a watching of the entire Firefly series into my schedule. I haven’t watched all of them since….three months ago? The name of the podcast is still unclear, but the episodes will be released in blocks of five, deemed ‘Docks’. As I hate editing very long audio data, each story will be about 15 minutes long, and there will be a feed updated every five docks with all of them merged together. Hope you enjoy the preview, keep flyin.

New scoop on the podshoot

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Alright, so heres the current scoop on the podcasts I was referring to earlier. First, there will be TWO podcasts, each independant and on completely different topics. The first will be the open-source tech podcast, which may or may not live. The second one, however, will NOT be related to open-source, or even tech. Nope, you probably didn’t guess right unless you know one of my favorite sci-fi shows (which only one person does…I think). This podcast will be a fan-fiction podcast written by me. The main focus of the podcast will to coax my mind to fill in the blanks of the Firefly verse, such as what happened to Niska or what ELSE has become of Saffron? Such of these will be answered (in my own, true opinions) in a podcast with fan-fiction written, revised, and edited by me. Although it may go through Browncoats before going into the podcast, to verify ‘n such, it will all be original. The idea sprang from me reading “Tales from the ‘Verse” and their submission guidelines. I thought, hey, I should write something and send it in. But then a better idea came, why don’t I make my OWN podcast and write a mini-ish series. Im eager to release the first episode, and hoping this dream becomes reality. I aim to misbehave.
