Updates…Updates…and more laziness
June 9th, 2008Yeah, I haven’t posted in quite a bit, and ive got a few reasons. Lately ive been reworking on a concept of CSEngine, which is a bit complicated and randomly worked on when im not playing World of Warcraft (Yeah heh…). The new model is a complex web that will be difficult for me to create, but hey, it will rock some badass sites when its done. The kernel interfacing is being written at the moment and it currently contains IPC (Inter-Process Communcation) protocol support. The kernel will be a completely independant component of CSEngine and can be used with any project that sees fit to use it. This is also the most crucical of the three layers, which are Kernel->Engine->API. The kernel will be the lowest level of functions available and only developers or smarties should use it. The engine is the core of the web frontend, and it parses everything that goes out to the browser, thus being an engine. The engine is technically speaking, more powerful than the kernel itself, being it only uses the core functions of the kernel. The API is the last and final layer and it will be available to anyone freely and it will be almost as well-kept as the kernel. The API is the direct scripting interface to the Engine, and designed for being friendly and suitable for the average widget/add-on developer. As usual, I probably won’t finish this project, but if it indeed is finished, it will be FLOSS’ed with GPL and published somewhere for anyone to play around with.
Some new writing, and a play for you e-vultures to rip off!
May 11th, 2008Hey there, again. I got bored tonight and decided to write a play that is supposed to be my final exam for speech. Its supposed to be classified as mystery, but I don’t see anything mysterous about it. Then again, what could’ve been a two or three act play is crammed into a small one act, four scene play. Its kinda disapointing, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyway, here’s the play. Click ‘Stageplay’ on the left to view it. Its written in ’standard’ script format.
Part three of ? series teaser
May 7th, 2008The second part is already done, and will be posted in a bit, maybe a week. Don’t know. Anyway, here’s a teaser from the third chapter. (Its really just all ive written)..
# “So…yeah, you still haven’t a clue what im talking about, have you?” Jenna asked Mars curtly.
# “Honestly? No, I haven’t the clue, you confuse me often young girl,” he said with a grin. “If I understood you, then we wouldn’t have anything to babble about.”
# “True,” Jenna replied. “But we could always..hmm, whats the word im looking for…play board games?”
# “Board games? We have those?” Mars wondered.
# “I dunno, maybe. Cap’n had some from his box of goodies he left with, maybe we should ask him?” Jenna wondered along with Mars.
# “Should we ask John for that? He seems a bit..angry at the molment, you know, not knowing where we are and–”
# “Ask John for what,” John interrupted.
# “Oh, me ‘n Mars were just wonderin if you still had those board games in your trunk,” Jenna replied in a quick manner.
# “Were you asleep for the past hour? Did you not see Serene get ripped apart by a freezing goddamn flame?”
# “Well…”
# “Well what?”
# “You don’t have to be an ass to me jus because I asked a question, I mean fuck John, were’ in the middle of nowhere. What else should we talk about? What im going to cook for your fat ass once Serene gets back up in the air?” Jenna said with anger lacing her speech.
# “Listen here, don’t you be fresh with me, ill leave your ass on this rock and won’t look back,” John said, grabbing the scruff of Jenna’s collar. “I give you a damn home, in turn you make me food. If you want to know what lazy is, ill leave you in your bunk until you rot.” Jenna started to show signs of tears in her eyes and started to sob. She glances over to Mars, noticing that his neon-green eyes were starting to change to a vibrant red. Just as that thought crossed her mind, Mars whacked John in the head with a sharp left hook.
# “Leave her alone,” Mars warned, still standing in a combat stance.
# “What the shit?” John said, still dumbfounded at what just happened. “Lovey dovey are you now, Mars? Ha ha ha, little lovey birdies.”
# “Im serious John, lay another fucking finger on her and ill break your goddamn fingers,” Right after finishing his sentence, John lunged at Mars, sending him to the ground in a flurry of green dust. Blow after blow, Mars took it with dignity. As soon as he saw fit, Mars charged into John, sending him backwards. He got up and started sending a flurry of blows towards his captain. “Don’t.” He said, landing a blow to John’s nose that made even Joey wince. “Fucking.” He continued, landing another right hook to his jawbone. “Touch.” Blam, a left hook impaled his cheekbone. “Her.” He finished, landing an uppercut powerful enough to send John flying backwards. He lay there for a second, slightly twitching at the pain Mars inflicted on his body so suddenly.
# “Had enough yet, jackass?” Mars jested. He stood there, panting, still in his combat position. It took awhile for him to get to speaking.
# “You…ass,” John muttered, rubbing his face.
# “Well? Had enough yet?” Mars repeated, intent on getting his reply.
# “No, I haven’t. Guess you’ll just have to kill me where I stand,” John coo’ed, trying to get inside of Mars’ head.
Yay, its May!
May 4th, 2008Well, I actually went through with the conversion to Ubuntu. It went rather smoothly, for the most part anyway. In the beginning, I had to fix up some config problems that were leftover from gnome on arch, but other than that, its been great. I think the best thing about Ubuntu is the Tracker integration/include. I used to use Google-desktop but it didn’t work good on Linux, it was horrible. That and it wasn’t flossy. So thats done, ive got pretty much everything setup nice and spiffy, except the fonts. Life is nice and simple, although more than 3/4ths of my Firefox add ons don’t work, bummer :(. Anyway, besides the switch to Ubuntu, ive also decided to start coding a custom CMS with flexibility. Hopefully, just hopefully, Ill actually do this one and not give up and go find something else to do….Ive said that over and over again, so what makes that any different. This time i might try Cake, I don’t know yet. I haven’t looked around to see what cake can make me do faster. Perhaps ill get lucky and it’ll be friendly with file io/db. Thats pretty much all ive got to say for now…heh, peace…stalkers…
Distro Dilemas
April 30th, 2008Im pretty certain that lots of other people have gone through the same thing, over and over again. What distro should I choose, Fedora is nice but Gentoo is a pain in the ass… You’ve probably seen it and if you haven’t, you’re probably a mediocre ubuntu user. I currently use Arch linux, and am fairly happy with it. But as time moves on, Arch becomes more hellish and not user-friendly (as far as package compatibility goes). I understand the concept of rolling release, but popping a compiler that you know will screw with lots of applications to be compiled, then why isn’t it in unstable or unsupported? Its like taking the user’s feelings and shoving them in a blender. I use Hairy Hardon (If you don’t get the joke, Hardy Heron/Ubuntu) on my laptop and im fairly ok with it. It hasn’t given me near as many problems as Arch did when I first put it on this laptop. The problems wern’t the come-and-go ones either, they kept coming with each upgrade, seeming endless. So I got fed up and put Ubuntu on it. Arch has been my first distrobution since I laid hands on Linux, and is still dear to me. Although the Arch I used to know and love is long dead now, and it seems its never coming back. This saddens me because when I first started getting into linux, i didn’t want it as a ‘OMG THIS IS GONNA MAKE ME 133T HAXOR’ path, but I wanted to learn about it because it was interesting. Time consuming, but mostly interesting. I took notes. I did research. Then after a year I decided it was time to put it on a box. I still remember the box it was on, an AOpen custom 400MHz PC I got from Katrina salvage. I was estatic. Sadly, those feelings are lost, and died a good while ago. Now its still a decent distro, but like all people, you never stay with one distro. Never. You always move at some point. So now im wondering if I should take the leap and use Ubuntu, because from what I hear, Arch isn’t getting any better, and only going downhill. I don’t nessisarily LOVE Ubuntu as I once loved Arch, but ive lived with linux enough to tolerate it. If you’re a user, you don’t count. I still hate you ;). So once again begins my trek into the dilema of the distro wars.
